Shoalstone Beach

Located along the coast from Brixham’s busy fishing harbour, Shoalstone Beach is a shingle and rocky beach that offers more than just a place to sunbathe—it is home to the famous Shoalstone Seawater Pool, one of only a few remaining sea pools in the country. This beach is perfect for families who want variety in their seaside day. When the tide is low, children can spend hours exploring the rock pools, searching for crabs, small fish, and other marine life. For those who prefer swimming, the adjacent seawater pool provides a safe, enclosed environment (open seasonally from May to September). The beach area features large areas of level hardstanding surrounding the pool, making it accessible for pushchairs and those with mobility aids. There is a disabled ramp to the promenade, though there are steps down from the car park to the pool and onto the beach. Facilities include deckchair hire, toilets (open summer season only), and a café perched on the edge of the pool with stunning views across the bay. From Shoalstone Beach, you can walk along the coast to Berry Head National Nature Reserve, where you can spot rare and endangered species and explore Napoleonic forts. The Berry Head car park is nearby, providing easy access. Dogs are not allowed on the pool surround but may be taken onto the beach without leads.
