Open seasonally, generally May to September (closed in winter)

If you are looking for a unique swimming experience, Shoalstone is a must-visit. This is not your standard leisure centre; it is a 53-metre (173-foot) seawater lido built into the natural rockpool during the Victorian era. One of the few remaining sea pools in the UK, it offers a refreshing (if brisk!) dip with stunning views across Torbay. The pool is open to the public for free, though donations are encouraged to help with maintenance. There are on-site changing facilities and lifeguards on duty during the summer season. It is an ideal spot for families, providing a safe, enclosed environment to swim without the waves of the open sea. Even if you do not fancy a swim, the surrounding deck area is perfect for sunbathing or watching the fishing boats go by. Located on Berry Head Road, it is a pleasant walk from the town centre.
