Brixham Heritage Museum

Located on Bolton Cross, this independent museum is a treasure trove of local history. The museum in a building that was originally the town’s Free Library. It does a brilliant job of telling the story of Brixham from the prehistoric era to World War II. While the fishing and maritime exhibits are the star of the show (featuring intricate model boats and diving helmets), there are also fascinating archaeological displays from the local area, including Roman and Iron Age finds. Kids are well catered for with interactive exhibitions. There is also the famous “Man and Boy” statue, which commemorates the town’s lifeboat legacy. It is a great option for a rainy afternoon, and the best part is that entry is free (donations welcomed), making it an easy addition to any itinerary.
