Berry Head is a stunning National Nature Reserve occupying a dramatic headland surrounded by water on three sides, offering exceptional views across Torbay and beyond. The site features an iconic lighthouse, a Napoleonic Fort, and superb coastal walks that showcase some of the most breathtaking scenery in South Devon. Wildlife enthusiasts will be delighted by the rare bird colonies that nest on the cliffs, including guillemots and cormorants. The reserve is managed by the Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust, and the Visitor Centre provides fascinating information about the reserve’s history, wildlife, and conservation work—though it is worth checking opening times during the off-peak season. Dogs are very welcome throughout the site, although leads are required in certain areas to protect ground-nesting birds. The reserve is accessible for visitors with disabilities, with tarmac or laid paths leading into both the North and South Forts. You can reach Berry Head via a pleasant walk from Brixham town centre or by a short drive to the visitor car park.
