If you want to escape the bustling crowds of Brixham Harbour, Fishcombe Cove is your hidden sanctuary. Tucked away along the South West Coast Path and surrounded by dramatic red cliffs and woodland, this small shingle beach is a favourite among locals for its calm waters and secluded atmosphere. Just a 15-minute walk from Brixham Harbour, the cove is sheltered by high cliffs and trees, meaning the water is often very still—perfect for wild swimming and paddleboarding. Keep an eye out for seals, which are sometimes spotted in these tranquil waters! Above the cove, Battery Gardens is well worth exploring. This historic site features old wartime gun emplacements with stunning views across Tor Bay. The location also serves as a gateway to wider adventures—the South West Coast Path runs along the top of the cove, connecting to Churston Cove, Elberry Cove, and Berry Head National Nature Reserve. While there is no direct parking at Fishcombe Cove, you can park at Oxen Cove car park near the harbour or try Battery Gardens for limited free parking. Even on warm summer days, you will often find this cove much quieter than Brixham’s main beaches, making it perfect for a peaceful retreat.
