Just a short ferry ride or drive from Brixham lies the Greenway Estate, the beloved summer home of the “Queen of Crime,” Agatha Christie. Now managed by the National Trust, the house has been preserved exactly as it was in the 1950s. Visitors can see her personal book collection, her piano, and the drawing room where she entertained guests. The gardens are a delight, sloping down to the River Dart with camellias, magnolias, and a woodland walk. It is famously one of the most atmospheric places on the English Riviera, and fans will recognise it as the inspiration for “Dead Man’s Folly.” The property also has a fascinating history pre-Christie, with connections to the Carte family of Gilbert and Sullivan fame.
